Security operatives are searching for unknown assailants who raided Gayaza B Village in Pachwa sub-county Kagadi district on Wednesday, hacking a 70-year-old man to death before critically injuring two others.
The deceased has been identified as Cosma Bakainaga, a resident of the same area. Bakainaga's wife Maria Tindikawa and their daughter Juliet Asiimwe were also injured during the attack.
According to Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region Police spokesperson, it is alleged that on Wednesday night at around 11p.m, unknown assailants armed with machetes raided the home of Bakainaga and hacked him on the head, face and neck killing him instantly.
The assailants later turned against his wife Tindikawa and his daughter Asiimwe who they also hacked leaving them with injuries.
Bakainaga's wife was rushed into Kinyarugonjo health Center IV in critical condition where they are currently being admitted.
The LC1 leaders were alerted by family members of the deceased following an attack and although residents rushed to the scene to help, they found that the assailants had already fled.
They alerted Kagadi Police who later conveyed Bakainaga’s body and took it to Kagadi General hospital for postmortem. The two other injured victims were rushed to Kinyarugonjo health Center IV for treatment.
Hakiza noted that investigations into the matter have already commenced.
