The suspect is Daniel Muwandane, who was guarding offices of Ground-breaking Ministries at Namwenda Road in Northern Division, Kamuli Municipality, Kamuli District Muwandane,reportedly broke into the offices he was guarding in the dead of the night and escaped with the hard cash collected for a pastors’ training in Busoga region.
According to the Police spokesperson Fred Enanga, the suspect was traced with the help of the District Crime Intelligence team and K9 dog that led them to the residence of the suspect. Enanga says they recovered Shs27.2m on him which was exhibited.
“They found when he had packed his belongings and escaped to his home district in Amolatar. He was swiftly tracked down by the District Crime Intelligence team and arrested. The task team also recovered Ugx 27.2m on him which was exhibited.” Enanga said.
This incident comes just days after police in Jinja netted two thugs with 200 million in at Rainbow guest house lodge, that was robbed from an Indian national. The duo is part of a bigger racket of criminals who attacked one Bhavin Prajapati, the finance officer of Victoria Nile plastics shortly after withdrawing Shillings 280 million from Baroda bank in Jinja on Monday afternoon.
Kiira region police arrested the suspected robbers and recovered an AK-47 gun serial number UG-UPDF-UH-3113 with 28 rounds of live ammunition. Police also impounded a Toyota wish registration number UBA 032N and harmful drug substances, cigarettes, and a harmer.

The suspects intercepted the duo near a car washing bay along Naranbhai road, grabbed the bag containing the money at gunpoint, and fled. Bhavin told journalists that they quickly filed a case of robbery at Jinja CPS, which eased the tracking down of suspects.
James Mubi, the Kiira region police spokesperson, says the bag containing the money had a GPS tracking device which helped the detectives easily track down the suspects’ location. Police have also recovered the remaining Shilling 77 million from the suspects.
