Police in Kampala are holding one suspect in connection to the murder of Kakooza James, the LC3 councilor of Kamwokya Church Zone, Central Division, Kampala.
The suspect, (names withheld) is in custody as police trace other culprits involved in the targeted murder of the victim.
Kakooza, 54, was attacked by two assailants on a motorcycle, during his morning jogging exercise on Saturday along Centenary Park, towards Yusuf Lule Road.
He was hit on the head and other parts of the body with a blunt object and sustained severe injuries which killed him moments later.
Fred Enanga, the Uganda Police Spokesperson says the victim was trailed by the perpetrators after he posted his morning run on one of the Community Social Media Platforms.
Enanga has cautioned the public to avoid revealing their plans or routines to the public as this may cause trouble and make one an easy target for enemies.
“Others do it out of excitement, fun and friendship. They reveal where they are traveling, having breakfast, lunch, dinner, parties, clubs, their families, their children and the schools they go to, after school activities etc.The challenge with it, is that you do not know who is monitoring your life and can take advantage of that information to harm you and your family members.” He says
He has also asked the public not to take photos posing at venues with signs on popular platforms like Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.
He adds that these posts might come with life-threatening or damaging effects.
