Police in Masaka, are holding 22 suspected coordinators and staff of a quack company identified as SUPERLIFE, for recruiting and defrauding people with fake jobs

The group, currently in police custody at Masaka Central Police Station, is being held on charges of aggravated trafficking in persons.

They include; Ayebazibwe Amon, Masiko Niclolas, Kamugisha Nicholas, Mugisha Nicholas, Abaho Denis, Akampulira Denis, Byaruhanga Ahamadal, Byamukama Innocent, Atukwase Moreen, Arimowera Immaculate, Tusingwire Joseph Kyohirwe Catherine, Gumaoshabe Dinah, Nishaba Mercy, Nuwahereza Apofia, Atuhaire Shadida, Ninzeyimana Vincent, Turyahebwa Dickson, Agaba Ambrose and Arinaitwe Brenda.

The suspects have been operating offices on Muteesa Plaza and other parts of central Uganda.

Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga says the suspects lured mostly S.4 and S.6 leavers with promises of lucrative jobs and asked them to pay huge sums of money to get connected.

He says preliminary findings indicate that most of the victims are from the Western districts of Ntungamo, Mbarara, Bushenyi, Kabale, and Kiruhura. A total of 98 victims (27 females and 71 males) have been identified.

The victims told police that the suspects invited each of them to their offices on Muteesa Plaza and demanded cash to register them, before being forced to rent cheap rooms in the slums, with the false hope of a lucrative job.

Enanga says a  search was conducted at their offices on Muteesa Plaza and several exhibits were recovered.

He has cautioned the public to reveal information about a potential trafficking situation, by calling the Human Trafficking Desk at CID Headquarters on 0713-881798.
