One person has been shot dead and another badly injured after they were attacked by an unknown assailant in Kalongo Town Council in Agago district.

The deceased, Joseph Komakech, 56, was a local businessman who owned a big shop on Market Square Street. Komakech was shot six times to the chest and shoulder after he declined to hand over cash to his killer.

The armed assailant, who was covered in a face mask and hood, also shot and injured Joel Opio, 26, a worker at the same shop four times. He later collected an unspecified sum of money and disappeared.

Komackech died on his way to Dr. Joseph Ambrossoli Hospital, Kalongo while Opio remains admitted there in critical condition.

The Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson, David Ongom Mudong says the incident happened on Wednesday evening. He adds that police are currently hunting down the assailants for murder and aggravated.
