Police in Oyam have arrested a man for murdering his wife following a heated fight.
The suspect, Thomas Omara, is a resident of Aleka Municipality in Oyam District. He reportedly used a blunt object to hit his wife, identified as Collins Atim on Saturday night.
Patrick Jimmy Okema, the North Kyoga Police Spokesperson, says neighbors heard the deceased quarreling with each other moments before the fight began.
He says by the time locals arrived at the scene, Omara had already killed his wife and her lifeless body was lying on the ground.
Omara was arrested by the area LC I Chairperson, Jonan Okulo, before he could escape, and was later handed to police officers at Aleka police station.
Okema says that Omara remains in police custody and will be charged with murder.
He has advised couples to avoid engaging in violent domestic violence but instead seek help from the relevant authorities.
