Police in Lamwo district have arrested a head teacher and school staff over 145 missing pieces of iron sheets donated to a primary school for renovations.
The suspects are George Nockrach, the head teacher of Abam Parents Primary School, Charles Oryem, the school PTA chairperson, and Vincent Ojok, the School Management Committee chairperson.
The trio failed to account for the iron sheets donated by the Lamwo District Woman Member of parliament Molly Lanyero, minister for Relief, Disaster Preparedness and Refugees Hillary Onek and the Lamwo district. They donated 20 and 188 and 30 iron sheets respectively.
The trio informed parents during a PTA meeting that they had sold 25 of the iron sheets to pay salary arrears for teachers.
They are also accused of failing to account for over Shillings 1.4 million mobilized by parents for cement.
Patrick Ongom, the Officer in Charge of Palabek Gem Police Post, says police recovered 93 iron sheets at the homes of the accused.
