On Tuesday, Aug 09, 2022, neighboring Kenya goes to the polls to elect the next president.
The race has four candidates vying for the country’s top seat including; the Country's Deputy President William Ruto, 55, Opposition leader Raila Odinga — son of Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, Kenya’s first vice president, David Mwaure in his sixth attempt, and Law professor George Wajackoyah.
Kenyans will also vote for governors, senators, members of the national assembly, and members of the county assembly.
The leader of the National Unity Platform(NUP) Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine and the leader of People’s Front for Transition, Dr. Kizza Besigye are currently in Kenya to observe the elections.
The duo is part of a 36-man team of observers under Brentthrust foundation, led by former Ethiopian Prime Minister Haliemariam Desalgen.
The delegation has prominent African leaders that have been invited as special election observers in the looming Kenyan polls.
Bobi Wine says his team has already interacted with the presidential candidate William Ruto and he hopes the country will have a free, fair and peaceful election.
Other Ugandan politicians on the same team include; the secretary general of NUP David Lewis Rubongoya, Elone Natumanya, Coordinator Uganda Parliamentary affairs on youth.
Other teams dispatched as election observers include; African Union(AU), European Union(EU) and the East African Community EAC.
