President Museveni will today address the country in the state of the nation address as he begins his new term of office.

This will also be the first state of the nation address of the 10th Parliament that was recently sworn in, and will take place at Serena hotel conference Centre.

According to information from Parliament, 9 speakers/presiding officers of parliaments in neighboring countries will attend today’s address.

They include; Justine Muturi from the National Assembly of Kenya, Ekwe Ethuro Senate of Kenya, Job Ndugai of Tanzania, Pascal Nyabenda from Burundi, Reverien Ndikuriyo from the Senate of Burundi, Magok Rundial from South Sudan, Mohamed Osman Shekh Jawari from Somalia, and Dan Kidega of EALA.

Speakers who arrived last evening were hosted to a dinner by host Speaker Rebecca Kadaga ahead of the State of Nation Address.

A state of the nation address is an annual address in which the President reports on the status of the nation, to a new Parliament.

The president gives accountability on particular government commitments and appraises parliament of the plans and strategies for the next year.

It happens ahead of the reading of the financial year’s budget. Analysts believe President Museveni will zero this year’s address on the state of roads, electricity, Oil and security among many others.
