Last week, the Cabinet passed a new plan to give the elderly a voice in parliament. It was resolved that elderly persons aged 60 years and above will have five seats with a representative from each region and a female.
Legendary singer Halima Namakula welcomed the development with open arms.
In an interview with Urban TV, she confirmed her readiness to serve the elderly at the floor of Parliament.
The singer said she has all the qualifications and many have already witnessed her serving people without even a position in the government.
"If i contest for the parliamentary seat, I know that i would get the required votes. I have all the neccessary experiences and I am even ready to serve," she said.
