Lawrence Muganga, the Vice-Chancellor of Victoria University, has confirmed that despite a familial connection with singer Sheebah Karungi, he maintained a professional stance during her musical showdown with Cindy Sanyu at Kololo Ceremonial Grounds on September 15, 2023.
Sheebah also holds the position of a brand ambassador for the university, which sponsored the event.
Muganga's response followed Cindy's assertion that there were efforts to undermine her performance during the battle, citing sound quality issues. Cindy claimed that her sound was unclear, and equipment was missing during her sound checks, which she refused to undertake. In contrast, Sheebah had a smooth sound check process.
During an interview on Bukedde TV, Muganga clarified that the artists were responsible for hiring their own sound systems. He acknowledged his familial ties to Sheebah, stating, "Sheebah is my cousin sister. But I am a professional."
Muganga also explained that Cindy experienced technical difficulties during her sound check, prompting the organizers to step in and provide equipment to ensure a fair competition.
He emphasized their commitment to professionalism and fairness, highlighting that they acted to address any issues that could have hindered Cindy's performance.
