Comedians Sammie and Shawa have faced backlash on social media for mocking National Unity Platform leader Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, also known as Bobi Wine.
Last Wednesday, while performing at Comedy Store, the comedians made fun of Bobi Wine's injuries and insinuated that he had faked them, which did not sit well with NUP supporters.
However, the two have apologized for the mockery and expressed regret for their actions, promising never to repeat such behavior.
They acknowledged their mistake and stated that in the future, they will be more mindful of the sensitivity and feelings of individuals.
"Hey everyone, we want to take a moment to apologize for our recent performance about Principal Bobi Wine. We realize that our skit was hurtful, and for that, we are truly sorry. Please note that our intention wasn't to hurt anyone, but to express our creativity and humor as comedians. Thanks for your support, and we appreciate your love. Thank you for holding us accountable and for being part of our journey. We're committed to making you laugh and entertain you, while also being sensitive to the experiences and feelings of all individuals and groups," the comedians said in a statement released on their social media.
Last week, Bobi Wine sustained injuries after he was allegedly hit by a tear gas canister in Bulindo.
