Musician Rickman has shared why he decided to cut off his signature dreads after years of wearing them.
The singer, once referred to as “Kony” by Frank Gashumba due to his appearance, explained that the dreads caused him to miss out on opportunities.
Rickman revealed that Ugandans still associate dreads with negative stereotypes, and this perception affected his career.
“One time, the Prime Minister of Uganda refused to give me a proper audience because of my appearance. I realized I needed to change how I looked,” Rickman explained.
The singer says he will now keep a natural look until circumstances force him to change again.
