Veteran Ugandan musician Ragga Dee has pointed to Parliament as a key factor contributing to the struggles faced by artists in the country, particularly the issue of artists having to resort to begging.

He argues that Parliament has a responsibility to create effective legislation for all sectors of Ugandan society, including the music industry. According to Ragga Dee, Parliament should be actively identifying the root causes of why artists find themselves in situations where they feel compelled to beg for support, and then work to address those issues by improving the industry's structure and providing better opportunities for creatives.

"If there are problems in this industry, they start from Parliament," he stated in a recent television interview. "The people working in Parliament should identify the issues and understand why some musicians are forced to beg." He believes that by understanding these underlying problems, Parliament can enact meaningful change.

Ragga Dee also commented on the increasing intersection of music and politics, suggesting that this is a natural consequence of the industry's growth.

"The more Ugandan music progresses, the more political it becomes," he observed, implying that political engagement is essential for the industry's continued development.
