Fred Nyanzi Sentamu, the elder brother of Bobi Wine and chief mobiliser of the National Unity Platform, spent the majority of last week behind bars.

He was later released and is now a free man. Speaking about his arrest, Nyanzi explained that it was related to his quitting the NRM party.

In an interview with Sanyuka Television, Nyanzi said that, according to what he was asked, his arrest was not about the parade but his past relationship with the NRM.

"In that parade, we looked more organized, and I don’t think the problem was the parade; it was the previous issue involving me leaving the NRM," he explained.

Chairman Nyanzi added that he is not giving up on his plans to protect Bobi Wine's votes in the next elections and has no regrets about the arrest.

He only regrets the pain inflicted on him through the beatings.

"As a party, we are preparing solely to protect the election. I have no regrets about our actions, as they were not against the law. However, I do regret the severe pain I endured after being beaten," he added.
