Musician Joshua Baraka is one of the finest songwriters we boast of as a country. He is a man who has penned all the songs he has performed.
However, Baraka also has his favourite Ugandan songwriters of all time. He mentioned them during an interview with Galaxy Television.
Joshua Baraka placed the late Mowzey Radio in the first position, revealing that he was excellent and a whole masterpiece.
He placed Maurice Kiirya in the second position, the late Elly Wamala in the third position, legendary Maddox Sematimba in the fourth position, Prince Job Paul Kafeero in the fifth position, describing him as a poet, and lastly, Dr. Brain.
"Mowzey Radio, he was a very excellent writer; Maurice Kiirya; Elly Wamala; Maddox Sematimba; Paul Kafeero, he was a man with lots of words and hidden meaning, a poet; and lastly, Dr. Brain," he explained.
Joshua Baraka, however, says he doesn't rank Daddy Andre as an exceptional writer but a good one as well.
"Andre writes, but he is not exceptional. He has no memorable lines and doesn't tell a deep story. He is an amazing artist though," he explained.
Joshua Baraka's comments come at a time when there is a debate in the media with discussions of the best writer between Daddy Andre and Dr. Brain.
