The Secretary General of the National Unity Platform, David Lewis Rubongoya, confirmed his aspiration to contest for the Kampala Central MP position.
The political bid has, however, faced much resistance and criticism from top Buganda and Kampala politicians who believe he shouldn't be contesting in the position because he is not a Muganda.
David Lewis Rubongoya, however, says he shouldn't be criticized for that. He explained critics should look at his abilities and not tribe.
"I should be judged by my abilities but not tribe. I have been living in Kampala for almost twenty years, and I understand the cries of the people. I chose Kampala Central because it's in close proximity to our party headquarters, which enables me to do the party work adequately and also go on with the constituency work at the same time," he explained.
Lewis Rubongoya's political bid has mostly been criticized by Mathias Mpunga and Moses Kasibante, who believe the NUP top man would have contested in Mbarara district where he was born
