Cee Lo Green is leaving NBC’s hit singing competition “The Voice.”

The coach, who was already sitting out the upcoming season, said he’s not coming back at all during an interview with Ellen DeGeneres that aired Wednesday on her afternoon talk show.

“I’m going to continue my relationship with NBC,” Green said. “I have a television show development deal with them as well. And hopefully some other talk show opportunities for later in the year. But yeah, I’m going to miss ‘The Voice,’ too. I’m not coming back guys.”

Green explained that he didn’t want to wear out his welcome on the show and that there are other things he wants to do, like release his first album in four years.

“CeeLo Green has been an instrumental part of the success of ‘The Voice’ and we deeply appreciate all his contributions,” Paul Telegdy, president of alternative and late night programming at NBC said in a statement.

“We’re looking forward to working with him on other upcoming projects that will tap into both his musical and entertainment expertise.”

The singer was one of the original coaches of “The Voice” alongside Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera and Blake Shelton, and the first to leave the show. He and Aguilera both sat out the fourth and sixth seasons, replaced by Shakira and Usher.
