Recently, Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) refuted claims that it banned artist Robert Kyagulanyi popularly known as Bobi Wine's song, Dembe, from the airwaves.

"Uganda Communications Commission has not banned any song by Bobi Wine - as far as I am aware," Mr. Godfrey Mutabazi UCC executive director revealed

Consequently, Bobi Wine has come out to appreciate UCC move in a lengthy social media post:

Dear friends,
I greet you with love and respect. Happy New Year.
We started this year with a message of PEACE in Our new Song #‎Dembe. In this song I call upon all Ugandans especially the youth to desist from any form of pre or post electoral violence. I further call upon the leaders to embrace a peaceful transition of power (From whoever to whoever). At first there were rumours that the song was banned but thanks to #‎UCC for coming out to clear the air, I was worried. I always use my musical talent to promote peace, equal rights and justice and to communicate important messages to Society. I am glad that the song has no restrictions now. I encourage every Ugandan to help promote this message by sharing it on all social media and by sending it to all whatsap contacts. I will soon translate the song into various languages so as to effectively communicate. I beg neither to be misunderstood nor contradicted, my message is clear, PEACE! I thank God for the confidence and I thank all of you for the support.
