“Forget the umbrella. Grab a chainsaw.”
Syfy has released the trailer for the sequel to last summer’s goofy made-to-be-tweeted-about TV movie. The trailer jokes that lightning never strikes twice, but Sharknado 2: The Second One looks it has all you could ever really ask for: sharks, tornadoes, Tara Reid looking terrified, bad jokes about “jumping the shark,” chainsaws—oh, did we mention the sharks in tornadoes?
Forgoing its predecssor’s loose grasp on Los Angeles geography, Sharknado 2 relocated to New York, a now everything from the Statue of Liberty to Citi Field will fall victim to the shark attack. Vivica A. Fox also appears as a new complication to the Ian Ziering and Tara Reid love story (don’t you remember that they were divorced in the first movie?). She once told EW that she’s getting a big-ass sword. Kelly Osbourne, Mark McGrath, Billy Ray Cyrus, Judah Friedlander, Andy Dick, and Judd Hirsch also star—because everyone wants to be in a movie with flying sharks.
The movie’s plot hinges on Reid’s character (April Wexler) trip to New York to promote a new book, How to Survive a Sharknado and Other Unnatural Disasters: Fight Back When Monsters and Mother Nature Attack, which is also now available as a tie-in. Hopefully the book’s awesomeness is proportional to the length of its title.
