Despite receiving a critical reaction that amounts to unanimously horrified disgust (or, more precisely, 17% on Rotten Tomatoes), Michael Bay's latest "barrage of nonsense and noise" has managed to dominate the box office, taking in $209 domestically after a a $73 million opening weekend.
It should be mentioned that at least several hundred of the tickets that contributed to that worldwide stat were purchased by a man who was trying to win back his ex-girlfriend. At this time, there is no definitive report as to why anyone else would willingly pay to see this movie.
