'The Divergent Series: Insurgent', based on the 2012 science fiction young adult novel 'Insurgent' by Veronica Roth, is the sequel to 2014's 'Divergent' and the second part of the 'Divergent' trilogy.
The film has been directed by Robert Schwentke ('Red', 'R.I.P.D.') with a screenplay by Akiva Goldsman ('Paranormal Activity 2', 'Lone Survivor'). The movie began filming in Atlanta in May, 2014 - barely two months after the first film premiered in the US and before it was even first shown in the UK.
Filming concluded on 6th September (two days before the first film opened in China) and it has already been announced that the third book in the series, 'Allegiant', will be filmed in two parts. 'Insurgent' is set to be released on 20th March, 2015.
