Kelly Clarkson's First Audition Is Even Better 12 Years Later

Happy birthday, Kelly Clarkson! The singer turns 32 today, and with her long slew of songs you've been secretly singing in your car for the last 12 years, it's easy to forget where Clarkson got her start.

We dug up Clarkson's first "American Idol" audition from 2002, featuring an adorable and awkwardly dressed 20-year-old Texan who has no idea she's about to become famous. This throwback video proves she's always had powerhouse vocals and a bubbly personality. Plus, she tells Ryan Seacrest he needs to fix his highlights, which is kind of amazing in its own right.

Twelve years later, Clarkson is expecting her first child with husband Brandon Blackstock. Cool beans, Kelly!
