In November 2013, Uganda National Cultural Centre(UNCC) took charge of the National Theatre for the next 50 years.

The theatre was previously managed by artists who used the venue for activities that benefited the industry.

Seven years down the road, the former managers and the current administrators have clashed over what the former term as mismanagement of a facility.

The former management led by Halima Namakula and Phillip Luswata among other want UNCC out because they failed to do what is expected of them. 

They also blame UNCC for forcing them into politics since their home, National Theatre is no longer conducive for their activities. 

The artists have vowed to stage a demonstration against UNCC management.
