Fast-rising artiste Mudra has opened up on why he ditched the songwriting career. Mudra says he used to write songs for different people including Cindy and Karole Kasita among others, but songwriting, according to him, is not rewarding.
“Songwriting in Uganda without copyright is non-productive. I used to write for Karole Kasita. I gave her the last project and stopped. The money for a songwriter is very little. How much do you think do they pay?” he says.
When a songwriter pens a song for an artist, the song can go on to become a hit song, but the songwriter doesn't benefit.
