Uganda police force has warned the public about a group of thugs who are attacking hotels and robbing people’s properties.
While addressing the weekly security media briefing at Naguru on Monday, police spokesperson CP Fred Enanga noted that they registered an attack at Kasubi Royal Hotel last week, where a group of four thugs first beat up the lone guard identified as Asiku Vincent who was seated at the main gate.
After beating up the guard and tying his hands, the thugs proceeded to the Sauna where they robbed two ladies of their properties before heading to the reception where they found another lady only identified as Sarah, and demanded robbed all the money she had collected.
Enanga says hotels are not investing in hotels and this is putting them at risk.
“Even hotels are not investing enough into security. You have this big hotel, with this one Askari who doesn’t even have a gun. People could have lost their lives. And in one way or another, once people get victimized at your hotel, it sends a message that there is no safety and security at your hotel and customers shy away,” Enanga says.
He advised hotels to make security a number one priority. The thugs have not yet been arrested, but their officers are searching for them.
