Musician Elijah Kitaka has maintained his stay at the top ever since his breakthrough in 2023 with the song "Tutu mama" featuring Vinka.
This year he is making headlines with the song "Ekyange", arguably the biggest this year in the music industry.
Kitaka has since set his sights on winning the Grammy Awards. The singer believes he will do so by remaining original and crafting the Ugandan sound.
He explained that his songs will go international because he is genuinely creating a unique African sound.
"The Grammy will come here. I want to create genuine Ugandan music and not copy from anywhere. I want to take our sound out there because we have real music. Our black originality must be felt everywhere," he explained in an interview with a local television station.
Few Ugandan musicians have previously received nominations for the Grammy Awards, including Eddy Kenzo; however, no musician has won one from our industry before.
