The police in Kampala have arrested 11 members of a criminal gang that has been robbing people of their lives and properties, terrorizing them day in day out.

The police in Kampala have arrested 11 members of a criminal gang that has been robbing people of their lives and properties, terrorizing them day in day out.

According to Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson, the criminals were arrested after a tip off from a whistle blower.

Enanga says they are investigating to establish whether the group is politically motivated, considering the political environment at the moment.

He explains that the gang has been most active in the months of January and February this year, within the greater Kampala especially in the areas of Kawempe and Bukoto since November last year and it has been behind most of the robberies and murders that were carefully planned targeting vulnerable business business people.

Enanga says “At the beginning of this year, they have been very active, during January and February; they carried out four incidents of shooting leading to two deaths."

The gang members include; corporal Lutwa Tito, PC Ochom Isaac, PC Ojok Michael, and Ahimisibwe Bernard. Their arrest led them to Alibuni Ismail, a one Hajji Umaru, another one called Mulogo, and Tumukunde dimans alias Geoffrey. The group had two guns, 110 rounds of ammunition, and an Ipsum car Reg. No. UAN 290S.
