Uganda will tomorrow Tuesday 8th March 2016 join the rest of the world to celebrate the International Women’s day.
This year's national celebrations will be held at Kololo ceremonial grounds under an international theme; “Planet 50-50 by 2030: Step It Up for Gender Equality”. The local theme will be “Women’s Economic Empowerment, A Vehicle for Sustainable Development.”
This morning, Uganda Police Traffic Commander Kampala metropolitan, Norman Musinga announced that tomorrow’s chief Guest will be H.E When Yoweri Kaguta Musevein President of the Republic of Uganda.
The traffic department of police has in this regard issued guidelines to ensure a smooth flow of traffic around Kololo ceremonial grounds.
The guidelines include;
Upper Kololo Terrace will be closed to the public from morning until the end of the function. Guests with vehicles bearing Yellow stickers will access Kololo ground via John Babiha road, Guests with vehicles bearing white stickers will also access Kololo via John Babiha and divert at Lower Kololo Terrace junction.
Guests with vehicles bearing Green stickers will access Kololo via Lottery Avenue/Lugogo bypass, branch off on Rosco Avenue and park at city high school. While vehicles without stickers, parking will be provided at city High School and KCCA grounds near UMA.
Boda Boda cyclists will be restricted on Lower Kololo and Upper Kololo Terraces wampewo Avenue and John Babiha road.
They are expected to park at KCCA grounds.
In a statement read for him by Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson, SSP Norman Musinga urged all the invited guests to display their stickers provided to ease identification and facilitation of quick guidance during movements around Kololo ground.
