Workers at the Nebbi Town Council Land offices were left in shock after one of their own; Kenon Ayika stole his secretary’s mobile phone.
The troubled long-handed man stole Christine Owach’s phone and mortgaged it to some other person.
Josephine Angucia, the West Nile Regional Police Spokesperson, tells us that Ayika allegedly stole Owach's mobile phone on April 24th 2016 when she was away from office.
The thief then mortgaged the phone at only 6000shs to Avuni Pius. The police would later take Pius with them to Ayika’s office who attempted to make a run of shame at their sight.
Ayika was on Tuesday arraigned before the Nebbi Grade one magistrate Edgar Tibayeita Tusiime, on charges of theft but pleaded not guilty to the charges and was remanded to prison pending hearing of the matter.
According to the Nebbi Town Clerk Festo Thuvitho, the incident is a shame, and they will take disciplinary action against the officer when court pronounces itself on the matter.
