The Uganda Revenue Authority-URA has officially closed off Nakivubo Stadium over 484 million Shillings accumulated tax arrears.

The URA Debt Manager Abdusallam Waiswa explains that the tax arrears date back from 2013 up to date, and the decision to close off the stadium on Monday came after Nakivubo management failed on a memorandum they entered with the tax body in 2013 to clear their tax obligations.

URA closed Nakivubo stadium in 2013, over the same issues. Then, the tax arrears were amounting to 338 million Shillings prompting management to enter a memorandum with URA promising to pay up in vain.

Traders running business in Nakivubo stadium have also been stopped until its management has cleared the taxes. Also parking at the stadium has been halted until then.

Nakivubo is the second largest stadium after Namboole.

If the stadium management fails to clear the taxes, some of its properties will be auctioned to recover the money.
