Residents of Kitgum Municipality are in a panic mode after the former head of Customs and Immigration at Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Mr Tony Olanya, was gunned down last evening by unknown gunmen.
According to police, the incident happened at Mr Olanya’s home last evening in Ayul A, Pager Division, at about 8.30pm under unclear circumstances
This is the second in a space of one week after Ms Grace Ageno, a judicial official and also Kitgum municipality councilor was shot dead under unclear circumstances.
Police explains that the deceased owned a mobile money outlet and had recently been appointed as Chairperson Public Account committee in Kitgum Municipality.
Jackson Baryampika, the Kitgum District Police Commander confirmed the shooting saying the deceased was shot five times in the stomach by two men armed with a gun and machete.
Police has now launched investigations into the killing.
By press time, was yet to make any arrest in connection with the murder.
