High Court Execution Division in Kampala has this morning  issued an attachment order for court bailiffs to impound 4 motor vehicles belonging to the troubled University Vice Chancellor Prof John Ddumba Ssentamu, his deputy, the University Secretary and Bursar through public auction.

This order is in a bid to enable the bailiffs auction the vehicles to recover Shs. 56million in unpaid legal fees to a city advocate Steven Ssenkeezi Ssali who in 2014, Makerere University agreed to pay the 56 million shillings as fees for representing Hajjati Fatuma Nakatude and a one Uzobia Baine.

The duo was University employees challenging the procedure through which individuals occupying the top administrative posts within the University are appointed.

At that time, Makerere University agreed to settle the matter out of the High court and to meet legal costs incurred by the two plaintiffs; but has since failed to fulfill it despite repeated demands from the lawyer.

This prompted counsel Ssenkeezi from Ssenkeezi, Ssali and Company Advocates to institute execution proceedings against Makerere University.

On Tuesday, the deputy Registrar in-charge of execution and bailiff matters, Musa Musimbi ordered Sarah Komuhangi’s Pay and Go Free Associates to attach the said vehicles, and they successfully managed to attach a Toyota Land Cruiser Registration No. UAJ -667X belonging to David Kahondha Muhwezi the Makerere University Secretary after she intercepted its driver at Planning House in Kampala.

Komuhangi drove the vehicle to High Court Kampala’s parking yard where it is currently parked as the search for the other 3 remaining cars is ongoing.
