As thousand converge at Maja-Lwengo for the burial of the late DP Secretary General Mathias Nsubuga, more people are still mourning him.
This afternoon, the minister in charge of Kampala Beti Olive Kamya has mourned Hon. Nsubuga as a great politician who still had more work to do for Uganda.
Kamya described Nsubuga’s death as a tragic one. Nsubuga who passed on Sunday December 18th at Case clinic succumbed to a stroke that he had suffered 2 days prior.
He has been described by many as a man of good faith who loved dialogue even with those that he did not agree with.
Born on November 26, 1956 to Vitale Waswa and Matilida Meeme in Kiseka Sub County, Masaka in present day Lwengo District, Matia Nsubuga as he was known to many served in several government positions.
His political carrier started in 1998 when he served as a political assistant to Ssebana Kizito the then Mayor of Kampala City Council until 2005.
Matia then served as a Member of Parliament representing Bukoto South for two terms from 2006 to 2016 where he also served as a DP whip in Parliament, but lost to Mohammad Muyanja Mbabali of NRM in the February general election.
In 2008, the late was appointed DP Secretary General replacing Lulume Bayiga. The later was recently reelected for the same position in 2015 by the delegates in Katomi in which he has served to the time of his death.
By the time of his death, Nsubuga has been the Chairman of the Interparty Organization for Dialogue (IPOD) and a member of the National Consultative Forum (NCF), a body that brings together all political parties in the country.
His body will be laid to rest in Maja-Lwengo district this afternoon in a befitting send-off. May his soul Rest in eternal peace.
