UMSC Conducts Interviews for District Kadhis

The Uganda Muslim Supreme Council-UMSC College of Sheikhs has conducted both oral and written interviews for 35 proposed nominees for appointment as Kadhis in Muslim districts across the country.

The Uganda Muslim Supreme Council-UMSC College of Sheikhs has conducted both oral and written interviews for 35 proposed nominees for appointment as Kadhis in Muslim districts across the country.

The nominees are drawn from Budaka, Isingiro, Kalangala, Kaliro, Kitgum, Mityana, Mukono, Sembabule, Sironko, Tooro, Tororo, Lyantonde, Kyankwanzi, Bunyoro, Masindi, Nakaseke, Busia, Namayingo, Kumi and Sheema districts.

These are largely new Muslim Districts, which don't have substantive Kadhis. While in some of the districts like Sembabule and Sheema, the former Kadhis died.   

Haji Ahmed Kayongo, the UMSC Electoral Chairman, who administered the interviews on behalf of the College of Sheikhs, explains that each of the districts forwarded the names of three candidates.

He explains that the candidates will face the College of Sheikhs before the final decision is made on the winners.
