The electoral commission has released a roadmap to electing leaders for the new districts which became effective on July 1.
The five districts are Bunyangabu, Kyotera, Namisindwa, Pakwach and Rukiga.
The Electoral Commission (EC) chairman, Simon Byabakama, told the press this morning, that during elections of women MPs, district chairmen and local government councilors for the five newly-created districts, no fundraising activities shall be allowed.
“The purpose of this ban is to allow a leveled-ground for all candidates in the race,” Byabakama said.
For avoidance of doubt, Byabakama said, this ban takes effect from the respective cut-off dates for registration of voters and transfer of voting location in each district and will continue until polling day.
“Those found to be contravening the law shall be dealt with accordingly,” he warned.
