Police has confirmed that the 13 people who died in a Sunday evening Kampala-Masaka highway accident were Tanzanian Nationals.
Addressing the police weekly press conference at Naguru this morning, AIGP Asan Kasingye, the police spokesperson said the coaster mini-bus registration numberTZ540DLC carrying 19 people collided with a Fuso lorry registration number UAG 970P with 2 occupants at Katonga.
Kasingye explained that the 19 Tanzanian nationals in the coaster had travelled to Uganda via Mutukula border for a wedding function, and were heading back home, using the same route.
12 people from the coaster and a passenger from the lorry died on spot, while 7 coaster passengers and the lorry driver survived. They have all been rushed to Mulago hospital in critical conditions, while the bodies were taken to Gombe hospital for postmortem.
Kasingye says they are still investigating cause of the accident, and would inform the media of any developments.
