The leader of opposition in Parliament Hon. Winnie Kiiza has attacked the speaker Rebbecca Kadaga for letting goons into the house to kidnap and torture legislators.
Kiiza was addressing the press at Parliament this morning when she applauded deputy speaker Jacob Oulanya for adjourning the house on Thursday last week when the legislators became rowdy.
According to Hon. Kiiza, Kadaga should have done the same during yesterday’s sitting; however, she suspended members, adjourned the house for 30 minutes, and instructed security to forcefully drag members out.
The concern however is that the officers who pounced on legislators, strangled and later forced them into waiting dark police vans were not part of parliamentary security.
Kiiza says they will not be forced to debate at gun point. MPs opposed to scrapping of Article 102 (b) were arrested and taken to different police stations; they would later be dropped to their homes after midnight.
The LOP says what happened in parliament was a shame and uncalled for.
“While Oulanya adjourned the session because of that, it was unfortunate that Rebecca Kadaga could not see that. That the security of members of Parliament is paramount that legislators can never legislate on gun point, she did not see that. Museveni made it even worse by sending his inner circle soldiers to come and attack members of parliament inside the chamber” Kiiza cried out.
She added that Museveni has defiled and raped the constitution.
