Artists have been advised to respect each other’s opinion as the ruling NRM government moves to amend article 102 (b) of the constitution.

In a communication issued by Andrew Benon Kibuka, the president Federation of Performing Artistes of Uganda, performers have been implored to act and behave rationally, particularly during this period.

Kibuuka explained that while expressing one’s opinion on the matter, they should respect another’s opinion even if it may be contrary to the other person’s.

He called upon police and other security agencies to accord equal treatment to all Ugandans, irrespective of their parties.

Kibuuka asked the state, to unconditionally drop all charges arising out of the brawl at Parliament against MPs as the first step towards building reconciliation and honoring the preamble to our Constitution.

He argues that at this cross-road in Uganda’s political history, a conviction or acquittal will only aggravate the already volatile situation.
