28 suspects have been arrested by the Uganda People's Defense Forces (UPDF) in connection to the killing of Francis Ekalugar, the accountant of Case of Hospital. Ekalugar was kidnapped on Tuesday January 02, 2018 on his way to deposit Shillings 15 million to the bank, and his body was found burnt beyond recognition in Kajjansi on January 3rd. Police used DNA tests to identify the deceased.

On Sunday, the army confirmed that 28 suspects were in custody in connection to the horrific murder following joint operations with sister security agencies.

Deputy UPDF Spokesperson, Captain Deo Akiiki says they conducted a joint operation on Friday following very reliable leads and arrested Huzairu Kiwalabye, one of the key suspects. 
 
Capt. Akiiki says there were attempts by some sympathizers to obstruct the arrest, which was overcome by security. He adds that after interrogating Kiwalabye, the investigators found the need to make further arrests and picked up 28 suspects including Abdul Kitata, a brother to Kiwalabye and head of boda boda 2010. 

The others included Mawa Muzamiru a - driver to Dr. SSebale Kato, the proprietor Case Clinic, Kikandi Muhindo and   David Bizimani -   Congolese nationals at whose residence the vehicle of the late Ekalugar was found.
 Others helping investigations include Ssebandeke John, Bwanika Fred, Ssengoba Hassan, Kibirige Joel,  Kayondo Johnathan,Ssemogerere Sunday Kiseka,Ssemogerere Sadam,  Barigye Asaf, Nsindazi Joseph, Ngobi Sowali , Arinaitwe Thomas, Ssekaja Ibrahim, Ssozi Frank, Kirya Shaban and Mugema Hussein.
 
The others are Kagajju Joram, Ssebata Hassan, Ssenfuka Matia, Kiddugavu John, Kasirye Godfrey,Lukyamuzi Enock,Ssengonzi Laurence,Twinomujuni Amon,Makumbi Frank, and Kanyamudali Thomas.  

The 28 suspects are being held at Kireka Police station as Police continue with further investigations. Akiiki says UPDF shall continue working with all other security agencies to guarantee peace and security in the country, adding that there is no cause of alarm.
 
The joint operations include Police, the army, CMI and Internal Security Organisation.
