Two people found in possession of 4.4 million Shillings in counterfeit currency have been arrested by police in Kisoro District.
The duo has been identified as Kenneth Mugabe, 36, a resident of Kilokole zone, in Kawempe division and Arthur Mutumba, 33, a resident of Nakawa division in Kampala district.
Kigezi regional police spokesperson Elly Maate says the two men were arrested on Tuesday afternoon while resting in Kisoro View Guest House in Kisoro municipality, after a tipoff by locals.
Maate adds that the suspects were found with fake money in the denominations of 20,000 and 50,000 Shillings. He also says that the suspects had a few months back circulated fake currency in Kisoro town.
The duo is currently detained at Kisoro Police Station as investigations into the matter continue.
