Questioning of the 112 children and women rescued from a mosque at Usafi over the weekend has begun. These are being questioned by Police officers from the directorate of Child and family protection unit.

According to police, the children and women are currently being kept in different unidentified places for security purposes.
But on Tuesday, police officers began questioning them and recording their statements.

A reliable source from the child and family protection unit says police officers questioned the children on the identities of their parents, how they accessed Usafi Mosque and what activities were being conducted in the mosque and among others.

"Our officers are trying but so far, the children do not want to open up. We have failed to get anything from the few we questioned yesterday (Tuesday)," the source who preferred anonymity said.

Emilian Kayima the police spokesperson says it may take time for the officers to get information from the children. Adding that after they have been interrogated, they will be rehabilitated and later released to their parents.

He further explained that the parents and guardians of the children will be questioned on how the children accessed the mosque.

A joint operation by police, Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) and the Joint Anti-Terrorism Task Force (JATTF) on the wee hours of Saturday raided a hidden Mosque at Usafi in Kisenyi and rescued 94 children and 18 women.
