Kidnapping people for ransom in Uganda has become a joking subject that criminals are playing with peoples’ lives for as little as 500,000 shillings raansom money.
As the president prepares to deliver the state of the nation address this afternoon, many Ugandans expect that the issue of security, especially concerning kidnaps and murders of women and children will take lead.
As we report now, the Police in Busia have launched a hunt for a young man who was allegedly kidnapped last evening by unknown people.
The victim has only been identified as Wandera, a resident of Kamuli district, whose kidnapping was reported by his grandfather Charles Oundo, a resident of Bulechaya village in Masinya Sub County in Busia district, whom he had been visiting.
According to reports, the kidnappers intercepted Wandera on his wat to a salon in Bulechaya trading center to trim his hair.
The Bukedi Region Police Spokesperson Sowali Kamulya, says the kidnappers contacted Oundo demanding for a ransom of Shillings 1.5 million or else they kill his grandson.
Police are now working around the clock with other security agencies to trace the perpetrators and rescue Wandera.
Meanwhile, Wandera’s case is the first case of kidnap being reported in Busia district. Many have been reported in Kampala and sorrounding districts.
