The Police in Mbale have started a crack down on marijuana dealers, arresting four dealers. Police withheld the identities of the four suspects who were picked up in operation conducted in Mbale town on Wednesday.
Mathias Turyasingura, the Mbale District Police Commander says this particular operation was prompted by complaints from residents about the open sale and consumption of the banned substance in the town.
The DPC also blamed the high crime levels in the region on marijuana consumption.
According to Juma Masaba, a businessman in the former Mbale Lorry Park, suppliers of marijuana deliver it to middlemen as early as 4:00 am in the morning, after spending the entire night on the street where they have a huge clientele.
