Uganda police force is hunting for Wakube James Lias Imran a resident of Busega in Rubaga division for being a master mind of the murder of a UPDF Soldier, Moses Musinguzi.

The incident happened on July 1st 2018 when Moses K hardware shop in Masaka was attacked by armed assailants, brutally killing Musinguzi, a UPDF reserve force guard before making off with his assault rifle with 30 rounds of ammunition.

The assailants believed to have been led by Wakube also stole UGX 43m from the shop. A one Shafique Kiggundu a casual laborer was also shot and seriously injured in the attack. He would later die at Masaka referral hospital.

Now, Emilian Kayima, the police spokesperson told journalists in Kampala on Monday, that the force studied CCTV cameras and was able to positively identify the assailants. 

Police has since arrested Tweheyo Julius and Kankaka Gerevazio, alias Kojja who were also captured on cameras during the act. The duo was arrested in Ntungamo district and Busega respectively. 

According to Kayima, they recovered 40 million Shillings from Tweheyo and impounded a motor vehicle, premio salon, believed to have been bought by the assailants using money stolen from the dead soldier. 

Police is now searching for Wakube, and a one Kayemba whose other name is yet to be known.

“The police are continuing with the hunt of the assailants. We have the task of apprehending them to bring them to justice, but also to recover the killer gun as well as the one they robbed from the guard they killed. We have good leads but we equally appeal to the public to notify us in case they have clues on the whereabouts of the said prime suspect” Kayima added.

The police mouthpiece further encouraged business men and women to embrace the use of CCTV cameras because the facilities help a great deal in the fight against crime. We pledge to find the suspected criminals and bring them to book.
