A body of unidentified man has been recovered from Kaina Crater Lake in Kana parish in Rwimi Sub-county.
The body was recovered by Bunyangabu police after residents saw it floating on the Crater Lake on Monday afternoon and immediately notified police.
According to Resty Amanda, the Officer in Charge of Criminal Investigations Department Bunyangabu Police Station, the body of a man estimated to be between 25-30 years was retrieved and taken to Fort Portal Regional Referral hospital, Buhinga.
“The body has no ID, it is now at Buhinga mortuary pending postmortem. Preliminary findings show that it is possible he was murdered and dumped into the water. We are just going to find out who he is” Amanda said.
The Rwimi Sub-county LC V Councilor Dafrose Natukunda says it is the first time they are recording such an incident in the area. Adding that; "The body didn't have one eye and the stomach looked like it has been cut with a sharp object. That was real murder because if he had drowned, the body wouldn't be found floating.”
According to Natukunda, a few people who claim to know the deceased say he was a boda boda cyclist at Burungu village stage, but none of the people has given any other information that can lead to the deceased's family.
