Inspector General of police has transferred the Arua District police commander to Masaka, one day after a scuffle that left one person dead.
SP Senyonjo Abbas who commanded operations was transferred in a mini reshuffle this afternoon. Hell broke loose in Arua Municipality which is gearing up for MP by-elections.
The heated election is slated for tomorrow August 15 2018. On Monday, President Yoweri Museveni, FDC’s Dr. Kiiza Besigye and independent members of parliament were all in Arua to campaign for their candidates. However, the camp of independent MPs campaigning for Kassiano Wadri is alleged to have commanded some youths who attacked the president’s convoy, leading to the shooting of one man.
In a transfer message this afternoon, SP Senyonjo who commanded the operation was moved to Masaka as DPC, while his Masaka counterpart SP Kintu Henry goes to Arua in the same capacity.
Also transferred is ASP Okalabaya Andrew from Buikwe to Mpigi as OC traffic Buwama.
The transfer is with immediate effect and the officers are expected to report departure and arrival.
