Uganda Police Force cannot verify the authenticity of allegations by former Leader of Opposition that she and family are leaving in fear after armed men allegedly set camp outside her house in Kasese.
In a face book post last night, the Kasese woman MP Winnie Kiiza narrated how since Friday armed men have pitched camp in her home with intentions to harm her husband, Mr. Yokasi Bihande Bwambale also former Bukonzo East MP.
According to the post that went viral last night, Ms Kiiza says such men were in their compound at their home located in kiburara, Kasese. However, a friend tipped them off that her husband was in trouble and he decided not to return home.
However, a shaken Kiiza said the number of men had increased when they returned last night.
“I am posting this message again; nine armed men in military uniform have surrounded our house again in Kiburara Kasese. All of them armed to the teeth with machine guns and RPGs. This kind of situation has been around my Kampala residence too in the last few weeks” the MP wrote.
She warned that whoever is behind the deployments should know that her family is entitled to citizenry. The former LOP was worried her husband would not see light this morning.
However, no such reports of death have come through from the legislator by this morning. Several legislators including former LOP Wafula Oguttu told Winnie these would not be assassins and asked her to speak to them.
However, the Uganda police Force this morning said they have received the legislator’s concerns and rushed to her house both on Friday and Sunday nights but found no military presence.
The police add that Mr. Bihande when contacted declined to speak to police, leaving the force doubting the authenticity of the allegations.
“We spoke to some of the domestic workers and neighbors about these issues and they denied knowledge of any military presence. As a result, we have taken a stand to open an inquiry file to investigate these allegations. It is being handled by the regional team at Rwenzori East. Leaders must all times cooperate with security agencies to solve matters that bring about insecurity” Police says.
