The administration at Naalya Senior Secondary School Namugongo campus arrested one person that could be facing charges of arson after torching a dormitory at.

Last evening at around 7:15PM, fire gutted a boys’ dormitory during prep time, destroying their properties to ashes. Fortunately, no child was in that building during the fire. 

According to the school’s head teachers Ms. Angella Kasobya, the suspect (name withheld) stuck around after setting the fire and tried to take pictures as students put it out. 

“As we were trying to stop the fire, students say they saw someone taking pictures but the details we have not yet ascertained though we have arrested him and are waiting for the police to handle” she said.

Police later picked the suspect and took him to Naalya police post where he is currently detained. 

A number of students fainted from the chock and were rushed to different hospitals as a result of the incident. Police fire brigade received a call from the school about the disturbing news and swung into action and extinguished the fire.

Police also advised parents to check on the students today as no outsiders were allowed into the school last evening in order not to tamper with investigations.
