Nine suspects will face music in the High Court after they were this afternoon committed by Buganda Road Magistrate's Court for the murder of late Susan Magara.
Magara was kidnapped and later murdered in February this year. Her body was dumped in Kitiko Village between Kigo and Kajjansi along the Entebbe Express High Way on February 28th, 2018 and 9 suspects have since been arrested to help with investigations.
But today, Robert Mukanza, the Grade One Magistrate committed them to the High court as their offence is capital in nature and can only be tired by a higher court.
Those committed are; Hassan Kato Miiro, Abubaker Kyewolwa, Abas Buvumbo, Mahad Kasalita, Yusuf Lubega, Muzamiru Ssali, Hussein Wasswa, Hajara Nakandi, an Imam at Usafi Mosque and Ismail Bukenya.
Patrick Kasaija the prime suspect also known as Patrick Agaba is still at large and the magistrate told the accused persons’ Lawyer Evans Ochieng that it would not stop the committal of the suspects to the High Court to face trial.
According to security agencies, Kasaija is currently in South Africa pending extradition to Uganda.
Ochieng had last week disagreed with the state prosecutor Patricia Akello who had said that court should commit the suspects for trial in the absence of Agaba.
Ochieng told court that under the Trial on Indictments Act, it is illegal to commit an accused person in absentia.
